My name is Hannah Mortensen.
I'm so glad that you found me and are interested in music lessons!
Many people think that music lessons are a optional part of a child's development, but I believe that the ability to play music is essential. Music develops critical thinking skills, listening abilities, personal character, and self discipline. It also adds joy to their lives!
I strive to offer personalized lessons based on the student's personality and learning style. I also believe that a student should be taught many genres of music to keep them interested, and to make the student more versatile. It's also more fun for the student to play music that they love.
This has been true in my musical journey! I've had some wonderful music teachers in my life that have made music fun yet challenging, and have inspired me! I hope to do the same for my students.
I started official music lessons when I was four years old, in a local Kindermusik class. At age 6 I started piano lessons and studied a wide variety of musical genres through the Conservatory Canada Program. I am currently working on my Conservatory Canada Contemporary Idoms Grade 10 piano. Along with my piano lessons I also studied theory and am currently working through Royal Conservatory Level 9 History & Harmony.
When I was 8 years old I started taking violin lessons as well. I learned classical music through studying the Royal Conservatory Program and I just finished my Level 6 exam. I also played my violin in several orchestras and ensembles and had opportunities to play both sacred and secular music for a variety of audiences. I have also been performing as a soloist for receptions and weddings with both instruments.
As you can see, music is, and has always been an important part of my life, and I hope that it will be an important part of your child's life as well.
